About The Position
Reporting to the Senior Development Chemist, you will perform the routine preparation and analysis of refinery and customer samples by instrumental techniques such as ICP-OES, Spark-OES, XRF, titration and classical wet chemical techniques.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs receipt, registration and preparation of refinery customer and product samples.
- Performs routine analysis of customer deposits, refined products, effluent, environmental, process and electrolyte samples by instrumental techniques such as ICP-OES, Spark-OES, XRF, titration and wet chemical techniques as required.
- Prepares working stock, calibration and reagent solutions as directed.
- Performs regular routine maintenance on existing analytical instruments.
- Conducts and records daily instrument performance checks in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Undertakes test work under the direction of Senior Development Chemist with a view to making improvements in efficiency, accuracy and productivity in the laboratory. Assists in the commissioning of new equipment.
- Ensure own safety and health at work and avoid adversely affecting the safety or health of any other person through any act or omission at work.
About You
- Diploma of Laboratory Technology or equivalent desirable
- Chemistry students/graduates encouraged to apply.
- Able to obtain a satisfactory national security clearance.
- Valid Australian Working Visa
- Pre-employment medical
- Valid C class driver’s license and own transport
- Ability to work flexible hours as directed.
